ABOUT THE EVENT
EVENT DESCRIPTION
DRESS! is an immersive art workshop for families based on the idea of Japanese theatre artist Tamio (Nakasugi Michiko) from Yuriika Hyakkaten (https://www.yuriikahyakkaten.com), encouraging children and families to unleash their creativity on a large scale. Using colored paper and masking tape on spread-out packing material, participants create artwork based on a set theme. Once completed, a guided 'tour' is conducted to view each team's artwork. Participants then have the unique experience of going under the sheet to view the art from below, creating a constellation-like effect. The space is darkened to enhance the play of light and changing perspectives.
Unlike traditional crafts confined to desk spaces, DRESS! offers a sense of freedom and the power of play on a larger scale, akin to running around in a park. It fosters community interaction as participants engage with each other's creations simultaneously.
Tamio's expertise in capturing emotions and transforming coincidences into necessary storytelling enriches the workshop experience. With a background in directing fashion shows, music concerts, and zoo performances, Tamio brings a unique perspective to DRESS!, aiming to expand the universe-like space and time of the participants' creations.
*This workshop is suitable for children aged 5 to 12. It will be conducted in simple English, making it accessible to families of all nationalities.
