The first Jazz Night in July presents a beautiful session of cool jazz and delicate charm as vocalist Mueanfun Manoonphol presents her longtime passion project—an intimate tribute to the legendary Blossom Dearie. With a name that means dreamlike in Thai, it’s no surprise Mueanfun brings a soft, floating touch to every note. Joined by the talented MAMO ensemble, she leads this session with warm vocals, mellow trombone, textured guitar, and a smooth rhythm section, capturing the whimsical elegance of Dearie’s sound.
Blossom Dearie was an American jazz singer and pianist, beloved for her light, girlish voice and understated style. Active from the 1950s onward, she carved out a distinctive space in jazz with witty lyrics, delicate phrasing, and collaborations with greats like Miles Davis and Johnny Mercer.
