Public Punching Bags (or PPB) performed at Yellow Lane on 10 May 2022. PPB is an alternative band formed in 2021. The band name comes from a New York campaign where a design studio installed punching bags all over the city to help relieve tension and stress among residents. The Bangkok-based group adopted the same concept, however choosing to vent their pain and frustration through music instead of punches.
“A hopeless city with a Buddhist mind. Paradise crowded with dreadful smiles,” sings the vocalist of PPB in their first single “The Heather.” Evidently, their songs offer commentary on Thai society and political issues with a tone of anger and desperation.
